Steam of Consciousness: About Green

The Following is a Stream of Consciousness about the Color Green.

Green Is...

Green is a color, the perception of which is evoked within the human brain by light entering the eye having a spectrum dominate by an energy wavelength of roughly 520-570 nanometers.

Green is a primary color of the light spectrum, a component of RGB, but not of the primary spectrum (cyan, magenta and yellow)... so some might say green is just blue tainted with yellow.

Green is the sign of healthy plant life, and sickly animal life (exceptions noted for both categories).

Green is half the name of this blog, because it is the color of the Lime fruit, the name of which appears in the spelling of PauLIMEr, a nickname given to me by one of my best friends, Josh Paris.

Green is the color of money in America, dollar bills also go by the name of "Green Backs".

Green is considered healthy, and clean. It is a movement in America to live less wastefully. Aptly so, since the very word itself comes from the old english verb, "Growan", meaning to grow.

Green is what you call someone who is new at something, or "Greenhorn".

Green is the color copper turns when it tarnishes.

Green is the color people turn when they get sick.

Green is the color of mold, at least the mold that was on some food I recently threw away.

Green is the color we turn when we are envious.

Green means go, where red means stop.

Golfers love hitting it on the green, it beats a sand trap (or so I hear).

Emeralds are green.

Jade is green too, and has been a very important part of Chinese culture for centuries.

People pinch you on St. Patrick's day if you don't wear green. Some pinch to flirt, most pinch to hurt.

CMOS sensors in DSLR cameras are more sensitive to green than any other color, because our eyes on average are most sensitive to green... if a camera captures green right, it's picture is more accurate and beautiful.

I hate green beans.

Reptiles are often green.

Frogs are often green, and as one famous frog once said, "It ain't easy being green."

The entire Libyan flag is completely green, to honor Islam... which really loves green.

Google yields 1,050,000,000 search results for the word green, only 794,000,000 if you add quotation marks, "green".

The "L" in "Google" is the only green letter in the company's logo. It is one of two colors that only appears once, yellow being the other. Red and blue each appear twice. Perhaps this is an ode to the color spectrum, where red and blue are more permanent where yellow and green are interchangeable depending on CMY or RGB models.

The green party still exists, and I can't figure out why.

There are 24 different styles of green colored panties currently for sale at Victoria's secret.

iTunes used to have a green logo before they changed it to blue. Apple thought the color was more "Web 2.0".

In psychology, green often represents tranquility, good luck, health, or jealousy. It's no wonder some regard the field like astrology...

The green ranger was the most powerful of the original power ranger series. I think he was Irish... after all, the black ranger was African and the yellow ranger was Oriental.

Potheads will often "smoke some green".

Gamblers burn green too, but they don't usually leave as happy as potheads.

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.

Kentucky bluegrass is actually green, the blue is an optical illusion.

Turtles are green. They also love eating pizza, using 80's surfer slang, and practice ninja moves. I did a lot of research on turtles when I was 8 years old.

The original green lantern was caucasian, the new one is african american. Regardless, he hates yellow. It seems yellow and green are at odds a lot.

The Dallas Stars team colors are green and yellow.

That's all I have to say about that.
